Work with Children - Watch Young Minds Grow
Early childhood educators support the growth and development of children from birth to age eight in a variety of early learning centers that include: child-care programs, preschools, Head Start, ECEAP and school age classes.
In this rewarding and challenging field, you will focus on children's learning that links the child, family and community.
Opportunities at Edmonds Community College
- Gain knowledge and develop career skills towards a one-year certificate or two-year degree
- Flexible course of study - both day and evening classes are available, attend as a part-time or full-time student, begin any quarter.
- Courses are designed to be meaningful for individuals from a range of backgrounds and differing levels of past experiences with young children.

Employability
According to Employment Security projections employment opportunities:
- in early childhood education are expected to expand rapidly - it is likely to be one of the faster growing occupations in the state. Total job openings are projected at about 3,000 per year from 2002 to 2007.
- the need for Elementary Education teachers is expected to increase 15.6% between 2002 - 2012, creating 945 new position per year.
